Our Blue Bird Auxiliary

Welcome to the Blue Bird family, Methodist Texsan Hospital!

Currently, we have a variety of positions open at Methodist Specialty and Transplant Hospital. This includes Information Desk, Surgery Waiting Room, Admitting Patient Laison (great for early risers!), Emergency Room and Floor Duty assisting staff and patients. Please indicate on your application that you would like to work at "MSTH." We REALLY need volunteers like you at this wonderful hospital!

Methodist Hospital – known by many as "Main Methodist," has the largest volunteer brigade, with about 340 in the program. But "Blue Birds," as they're known, serve four facilities: Main Methodist, Methodist Children's Hospital (housed in the same complex as Main Methodist), Methodist Boerne Emergency Center and Methodist Specialty and Transplant Hospital, located nearby in the Medical Center. We also assist with the volunteer program at Methodist Texsan, conveniently located on IH-10 near Wonderland of the Americas Mall.

Established as the "Blue Birds of Laurel Heights" by a small church group in 1920.
The Blue Birds aim to accomplish:

  • Service to Others
  • Selflessness
  • Fellowship

The Blue Bird Auxiliary is honored to serve the community and create a network of life-long companions. We believe that by making others smile, we make our own days brighter.

Heavenly Father, we come to you asking your deeply needed help as each of us pray that we will bring caring, loving concern to our patients, their families, the doctors, nurses and all hospital personnel.  Especially bless all of our Blue Birds who serve you, dear God, by giving of ourselves in the way that you would have us serve.  Help us to remember always that as we serve even the least of your children, we are serving thee.  In Thy Name we pray, always remembering we are dedicated to Serving Humanity to Honor God.  Amen.

May the Lord bless us and keep us.  Amen.

"I had known and admired several Blue Birds over the years back while I was still working and had determined to join the group upon retirement. I believe it is better to give than to receive, and giving to the community of patients and their families, my life is so enriched.”
