Blue Bird volunteers are active across the San Antonio community, serving on the Board of Directors, volunteering at multiple non-profit agencies and organizations and demonstrating leadership and servant hood in countless areas.
Aside from individual contribution, the Blue Bird Auxiliary offer financial assistance to students pursing degree to work in a variety of healthcare fields. Scholarships are awarded annually to a select number of applicants that fulfill the eligibility requirements. The Blue Bird Auxiliary partners with the San Antonio Foundation in the recipient selection and administering of scholarship disbursements.
In addition to scholarship, the Blue Bird Auxiliary makes available grants to non-profit programs and services. Grant recipients are organizations that help support research, education and services that directly benefit medically challenged children and adults in San Antonio and the surrounding area. Grants benefit community non-profits as well as the Methodist Healthcare System.
Grants awarded in 2014 totaled $63,500.
